Wine Tasting Notes
Tasting notes are more important than most people think! What’s a tasting note? It is a list of impressions you get when tasting a wine.
Method
It starts by observing your wine: is it clear or hazy? How would you describe the color? Does it appear diluted in color or saturated?
Next we sniff and write down the fruit and flower aromas before delving into spice notes.
Finally, we take a sip, swish that wine around and write down what we feel and taste.
Doing this teaches us a lot. We can learn to identify grapes, climate and winemaker choices and, more importantly, learn how to describe what we love (and don’t!) in a wine.
Our Session
This two-hour class includes two bottles of wine, a tasting note template and guided practice in how to take a note. We’ll start with an introduction to the how and why of tasting notes and then workshop two, one white and one red using a Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir.
