Chef Mariam Shah

Mariam is a chef, an artist, an instagram personality and currently also a graduate student! This multifaceted individual is originally from Karachi, Pakistan, where she was an art teacher and professional actor for ten years before moving to VT to attend Bennington College.

Mariam fell into the culinary world quite by accident but like most things in her life, she is incredibly passionate about food. Since 2016, Mariam has created and executed nearly 30 pop-up kitchens in Bennington, the Capital Region and in Brooklyn. Mariam was also nominated for the title of Outstanding Female Chef in Santé Magazine and has spent many evenings with Nancy, pairing wines with the flavors of her home to great success!

These days Mariam is especially interested in the psychological role of food in trauma therapy for expats and continues to be excited about bringing culinary diversity to the region. In case you need an extra tidbit: Mariam speaks five languages, is formally trained in the classical Indian dance forms, Bharatnatyam and Kathak and is a stickler for political correctness.
