Description

Wine Tasting 102: The Tasting Process

Using the same approach to tasting every wine yields many benefits: figuring out particular grapes, blends, regions and even climates you prefer when it comes to wines and also unlocking how to talk about wine in a way that will help you find what you’re looking for in restaurants and shops. This tasting teaches participants how to write a tasting note for white and red wine.

The Agenda

This night starts with a glass of bubbly and a lesson in spitting technique (believe us, you’ll want to spit a lot of this out!).

Next, participants learn about white wine. How should the color be described? What might the color say about the wine? What are some common aromas? How do we detect and isolate them? What does the wine feel like on the palate? Finally, what conclusions can we draw from all of this?

We’ll repeat this with red wine.

Finally, we’ll talk about selecting wines and basic pairing tips.

Who’s This Good For?

This more educational tasting is great for those who are new to wine but want to take it to the next level. It’s informative, but fun. It does not include tasting of multiple wines and instead focuses on learning how to develop tasting skills and practicing a routine. Participants may also enjoy Wine Tasting 101.

Note for Hosts

This tasting lasts 90-120 minutes.
