Session 1: The Basics

In this introductory session, you’ll learn the basics of tasting wine. Discover acid, sweetness, body, alcohol and tannins in a way that finally makes sense. You’ll sample white and red wines to unlock their profiles and start learning how to describe them to somms and shop personnel. Class includes instruction by experts, sample wines, water and crackers.

Session 2: Tasting Red Wine

Take what you’ve learned in session one to learn how to taste and describe red wines. At the end of this session you should be able to taste through any red wine and write a basic tasting note describing its appearance, aromas, flavors and textures. Class includes instruction by experts, sample wines, water and crackers.

Learn all about how to taste wine with couch + cork. This 4-session experience will introduce you to how to taste and describe a wine effectively. Why should you know how to do this? It’s a helpful skill for getting a wine you’ll love in a shop or restaurant or, for the competitive among you, so you can win our tasting tournament final session! Please note: this class is not aligned with any certification program.

Session 3: Tasting White Wine

Take what you’ve learned in sessions 1 and 2 to learn how to taste and describe white wines – these are a little tougher than reds! At the end of this session you should be able to taste through any white wine and write a basic tasting note describing its appearance, aromas, flavors and textures. Class includes instruction by experts, sample wines, water and crackers.

Where the rubber meets the road! In this final session, you’ll square off in a March Madness-Style tournament to see who can accurately identify wines based on their description. The winner will be crowned The Duke or Duchess of Deductive Tasting, receive a prize and, most importantly, get bragging rights.
